Why we love cork so much 💚

It wasn't necessarily on our agenda that our first products would be made of cork and we will certainly offer products made of other materials in the future. However, in today's blog post, we explain that cork is very versatile and has completely won us over with its almost unbeatable eco-balance.

Cork is obtained from the bark of the cork oak and is harvested for the first time at the age of around 25 years and then at intervals of 9 years. A single cork oak can produce up to 1,000 kg of cork and the tree can live for up to 250 years.

A peeled cork oak binds up to four times more carbon dioxide and is therefore good for people and nature.

No trees have to be felled for this, so the use of cork actively contributes to climate protection and results in an all-round positive ecological balance.

And we are also completely convinced by the product features:

- Cork is antibacterial and hypoallergenic
- Natural and very pleasant feeling on the skin
- Durable and long-lasting material
- Versatile in use
- Completely biodegradable

All these positive properties are perfectly in line with our #iamtreeletic criteria. And of course you can see for yourself in our store that cork is not only natural, but can also look very beautiful.
