Our materials
Why all this? Through the targeted use of natural materials such as cork and organic cotton, we strive to promote not only style but also environmental friendliness. Join us in exploring the world of sustainable alternatives to understand how every purchase you make contributes to the preservation of our precious resources.

Microplastics: A threat to a clean environment and water quality
In a world where a clean environment and water quality cannot be taken for granted, the issue of microplastics is increasingly coming to the fore. These tiny plastic particles pose a significant threat to our ecosystems and our health. The use of natural materials offers a sustainable alternative to protect our environment and ensure clean water for future generations.
Clean air: the challenge of non-degradable materials
Clean air is not a given, and the impact of non-degradable materials on our air quality is alarming. But consumers can have a significant impact on this problem by consciously choosing products that are environmentally friendly and recyclable. By rethinking our purchasing decisions, we can actively contribute to the preservation of clean air and reduce the impact of non-degradable materials.

Cork
Cork is the all-rounder among sustainable materials, we love cork. The first products we launched on the market were made of cork, and for good reason. Cork is obtained from the bark of the cork oak and is harvested for the first time at the age of around 25 years and then at intervals of 9 years. A single cork oak can produce up to 1,000 kg of cork and the tree can live for up to 250 years. A peeled cork oak binds up to four times more carbon dioxide and is therefore positive for people and nature. No tree has to be felled for this, so the use of cork actively contributes to climate protection and results in an all-round positive ecological balance. What should you look out for? We produce our cork products in Portugal, which conserves resources and avoids long transportation routes.

Our activewear is made from TENCEL™ because the material not only feels great to wear, but also sets standards in terms of environmental friendliness. TENCEL™ is made from wood, usually eucalyptus, which comes from sustainably managed forests. Production takes place in a closed cycle in which up to 99% of the solvents used are recovered and reused - a real pioneer in terms of the circular economy. TENCEL™ is biodegradable, requires significantly less water to grow than cotton and requires no pesticides. This makes the fiber particularly environmentally and skin-friendly. Our TENCEL™ fabrics are processed in Portugal - for the highest quality, fair conditions and short distances.

ROICA™ V550
ROICA™ V550 is an innovative stretch fiber that combines high wearing comfort with responsible technology. Unlike conventional elastane, which takes several hundred years to decompose, ROICA™ V550 is fully biodegradable and Cradle to Cradle® Gold certified. This is crucial for us - because persistent pollutants in nature are a no-go. The fiber is developed in such a way that it can be returned to biological cycles after use. ROICA™ V550 thus enables truly circular textile production - an important step towards real sustainability. Our fabrics are processed in Portugal - fairly, with high quality and short distances.

Wood is a more than sensible alternative to plastic products. But it makes little sense to transport tons of wood in containers on huge cargo ships around the world. If, for example, we write on our balance boards that the wood comes from FSC-certified cultivation in Europe, this represents an important impact. FSC certification stands for biodiversity, the increase of natural forests and the sustainable use of forest resources.

Cotton
Cotton is a natural product that is biodegradable. We only use organic cotton without the addition of polyester or other synthetic materials. Our products are also certified in accordance with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which includes not only the cotton but also the entire production process from cultivation to packaging etc.

We not only love natural materials, but also a clear language. Most products made from natural rubber are nothing but greenwashing! They are sourced from Asia at minimal prices, praised as natural rubber with undescribed additives and the cultivation is not questioned any further. Hardly any producer can say which additives are contained in the natural rubber. But there are also good approaches. As with wood, there is FSC certification for natural rubber. However, many companies avoid this and do not scrutinize their supply chains. As with wood, paper and other FSC-certified products, manufacturers and consumers can do this in the knowledge that the rubber has been produced in forests or plantations with safe working conditions and good relations with the population, without deforestation or other damage to the environment.

Recycled plastics
There is a wide range here, including massive greenwashing. In the yoga segment, for example, recycled materials (from Asia) are advertised as sustainable. These are reprocessed with chemicals and transported in huge cargo ships, which cannot be our way. It is therefore important to take a closer look. Why is a material that is fundamentally harmful to the environment described as sustainable just because it is recycled and made available again? Wouldn't it be better to do without it directly? Because the problem of plastic waste and particles, which also wash up on European beaches, remains. In our view, there is at best a benefit if a recycled material is mixed with natural materials and the product benefits increase as a result and the overall material is durable.
