bYo® Beach | Handmade 100% Cork Yoga Mat XL

Cork is a unique natural material that does not require the felling of trees. Harvesting the bark allows the tree to regenerate and, as a result, absorb more CO2 (more info).

bYo brings back a sense of nature. It is a handmade yoga mat made of natural cork, which gives it a beautiful texture. Measuring 190 x 68 cm, it offers plenty of space—its length in particular makes your practice very comfortable.

Natural cork is particularly sturdy and durable; unlike mats made of rubber, the bYo yoga mat does not wear down. We offer a 2-year warranty on it.

We use durable natural cork from Portugal without combining it with other materials such as TPE or latex, which is what makes bYo unique. bYo is the first yoga mat to receive the international Green Product Award for sustainability, design, and innovation.

Our bYo is not only beautiful, but also very durable. Thanks to its high-quality craftsmanship and natural cork structure, it doesn’t wear down like rubber mats do. That’s why we offer a 2-year warranty against surface deterioration. If, contrary to expectations, this should happen, we will replace the mat with a new one free of charge.

Grip

The unique texture of cork provides a comfortable, non-slip surface, as cork has a special property: its grip improves when wet. You’ll feel the strong grip after just a few minutes on the mat. If your skin is very dry, you can also lightly moisten the mat before your workout (e.g., with a spray bottle, or otherwise with a damp cloth) to further increase the grip. Use your bYo barefoot or with non-slip socks. Focus on applying plenty of pressure with your hands and feet. This allows you to experience the exercises more intensely and activates small stabilizing muscles. The result is a noticeably smoother flow during your sessions.

Damping

The bYo mat is known for its firm texture—and for good reason! A firmer mat improves your body awareness while giving you more stability in your asanas. You’ll feel the ground more clearly and be able to align your posture more precisely.

If you still need more padding, you can simply place a towel or blanket underneath. A bolster (a firm yoga cushion) also works great as extra support. These props are a tried-and-true practice in many styles of yoga for increasing individual comfort and adapting the exercises to your own needs.

Unroll the mat completely, then roll each end firmly in the opposite direction. bYo is durable and can handle it.

The bYo mat is durable and easy to clean! A quick wipe-down with a soft cloth and water once a week is all it takes. If you have an intense workout, just clean the mat right after. Avoid exposing the mat to direct sunlight for long periods of time, and you’ll enjoy your bYo for years to come!
