What our professionals say
FAQs - Frequently asked questions
Cork is a special natural material for which no tree has to be felled. By harvesting the bark, the tree can regenerate and subsequently bind more CO2(more information).
bYo brings back naturalness. It is a handmade yoga mat made from natural cork. This creates a beautiful structure on the mat. Measuring 190x68 cm, it also offers plenty of space, as the length makes training very comfortable.
The natural cork is particularly robust and hard-wearing, and the bYo yoga mat is not subject to abrasion like mats made of rubber materials. We give a 5-year guarantee.
We use robust natural cork from Portugal without combining it with other materials such as TPE or latex, which makes bYo unique. bYo is the first yoga mat to receive the international Green Product Award for sustainability, design and innovation.
Our bYo is not only beautiful, but also very robust. Thanks to the high-quality workmanship and the natural cork structure, there is no abrasion as with rubber mats. That's why we give a 2-year guarantee that the surface will not disintegrate. If, contrary to expectations, this should nevertheless be the case, we will replace the mat with a new one free of charge.
Grip
The unique surface structure of the cork provides a pleasant and non-slip surface, as cork has a special property: it improves grip when wet. You will feel the strong grip after just a few minutes on the mat. If your skin is very dry, you can also slightly moisten the mat before training (e.g. with a spray bottle, otherwise with a damp cloth) to increase the grip even further. Use your bYo barefoot or with non-slip socks. Focus on working with a lot of pressure on your hands and feet. This will make the exercises more intense and activate small stabilizing muscles. The result is a noticeably more fluid flow during your sessions.
Attenuation
The bYo mat is characterized by its firm texture - and for good reason! Because a harder mat improves your body awareness and at the same time gives you more stability in the asanas. You can feel the surface more clearly and can align your posture more precisely.
If you still need more cushioning, you can simply place a towel or blanket underneath. A bolster (a firm yoga cushion) is also ideal for additional support. These aids are a tried and tested practice in many yoga styles to increase individual comfort and adapt the exercises to your own needs.
Roll out the mat completely once and roll it vigorously in the opposite direction at each end. bYo is robust and can withstand this.
bYo is pure nature and smells very pleasant, a little like wine corks ;)
The bYo mat is robust and easy to clean! A quick clean with a light cloth and water once a week is sufficient. If you have an intensive training session, simply clean the mat immediately afterwards. Avoid exposing the mat to direct sunlight for long periods of time and you will enjoy your bYo for a long time!
